Kaduna, Nigeria - March 30, 2024 - In a strategic move to combat setbacks from the recent Ginger Blight Epidemic, the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) made a significant site visit to the thriving ILLAJ Ginger Factory. This visit is a key component of NADF's comprehensive ginger recovery initiative following the formation of the Ginger Blight Epidemic Control Taskforce (GBECT).
ILLAJ Ginger Factory, which two years ago took the reins of the formerly state-run Kaduna Ginger Factory, has since been an emblem of innovation and resilience. With extensive investments funnelling into its renovation, ILLAJ has pivoted towards value-added exports, redefining the capacity of local ginger production.
NADF’s tour of the factory was more than observational; it served as a platform to pinpoint collaborative opportunities. Despite the pervasive threat of Blight disease, ILLAJ's ginger cultivation methods have astonishingly stood firm against it. Recognizing this, NADF is poised to offer support in areas such as capacity building, financial access, and forging robust market linkages. These actions are geared not only towards enhancing ILLAJ's output but also to stabilizing and scaling the viability of ginger farming in the region.
This engagement underscores NADF's dedication to bolstering agricultural triumphs in Nigeria, with the health of the ginger industry being a current priority. As NADF aligns with successful models like ILLAJ's, the future of the country's ginger sector glimmers with a renewed zest.
With agricultural development firmly planted in its mission, NADF continues to drive initiatives that promise a prosperous yield for Nigeria's economy.
